Hand lift treats signs of ageing on our hands such as hollows in the back of our hands, bulging veins on the hands and the loss of skin tone and elasticity. There are two ways to treat these symptoms: with a dermal filler, which restores hand skin volume, providing instant improvement in the skin youthful appearance; and with collagen stimulators, which effectively and gradually improve skin elasticity and tone and improve its volume over time.
Hand fillers replace lost volume in the skin of the hands directly. Collagen stimulators encourage our body’s natural production of collagen, restoring the underlying skin structure, its volume and superficial appearance. Dermal fillers deliver faster results than collagen stimulators, but both methods offer drastic and visible rejuvenation of the ageing skin on our hands. Talk to the FACE Cosmedical injector Rebecca to determine which method works better for you. It will depend on the condition of your skin and the results you expect.
WHAT SYMPTOMS CAN BE TREATED BY HAND LIFT?
The main area treated by hand lift is the back of the hands. In this area, the loss of volume causes hollows. The loss of skin tone causes skin to look thin and dry like crepe paper. Our injector Rebecca at FACE Cosmedical is trained to perform the hand lift and restore the elasticity and volume on the back of hands. After the procedure, a client will have smoother and firmer skin with more volume in the treated areas. The bulging veins will be less prominent – skin with more volume will make them look less prominent and noticeable.
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN HAND LIFT PROCEDURE?
Clients coming to FACE Cosmedical for the hand lift procedure can expect completely safe, fast and efficient treatment, whether you are coming for dermal fillers or collagen stimulators. The treatment will be done during a short visit to our clinic, even during your lunch hour. The target area will first be thoroughly cleaned before our injector Rebecca will inject an appropriate amount of dermal filler or collagen stimulator.
Our injector Rebecca uses microcannulas to perform this procedure. Unlike sharp needles, microcannulas have blunt tip that ensures little or no risk of the injected material entering the bloodstream. This significantly reduces the risk to the client. The use of microcannulas also causes less swelling and bruising and much faster recovery from the procedure. Immediately after the procedure is finished, the client can return to his or her normal activities.
WHEN WILL THE RESULTS OF HAND LIFT BE VISIBLE?
After the procedure that involved dermal filler, the results will be instantly visible. Any swelling will subside in a day or two and will be minimal. After the injection of collagen stimulators, the results will take longer time to develop, about a week or two. But, as the body produces more collagen, the results will be more noticeable and the client will see firmer, tauter skin with more volume, looking much younger and better hydrated.
HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS OF HAND LIFT LAST?
The results of hand lift will last shorter or longer depending on the type of the hand lift performed. The client that had dermal filler procedure can expect results that last between three and nine months. It will require occasional touch-ups. Collagen stimulators produce results that last much longer, but the results are showing much slower.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT WHILE RECOVERING FROM HAND LIFT?
Clients should not anticipate the need for any downtime from their hand lift procedure regardless of having a dermal filler or collagen stimulator treatment. As soon as the procedure is over, they will notice increased fullness in the treated area, possibly accompanied by minor bruising and swelling, which will subside shortly. In addition, many dermal fillers used at FACE Cosmedical are formulated to include pain relievers to ensure that a patient is completely relaxed and comfortable during the procedure. In most cases, no additional pain killer is necessary. When collagen stimulators were administered, the results will develop slowly and gradually and the client can continue with his or her regular routine.
ARE THERE ANY RISKS INVOLVED IN HAND LIFT PROCEDURE?
The risk involved in hand lift procedure performed at FACE Cosmedical is minimal and the side effects from their introduction into the skin are extremely rare. Dermal fillers are mostly composed of hyaluronic acid-based compound. This acid naturally occurs in human body, so the use of this material is completely safe for rejuvenating ageing hands, producing very effective and natural-looking results. Collagen stimulators may use hyaluronic acid derivatives as well. As an added safety measure, the use of microcanullas during the hand lift procedure makes the risk of the introduction of the hyaluronic acid into the bloodstream highly unlikely.
